Maida Vale Cleaners is committed to providing professional cleaning services in a way that safeguards the health, safety and wellbeing of our employees, clients, visitors and members of the public. This policy sets out our approach to managing health and safety across all cleaning operations, including work in homes, offices, communal areas and commercial premises.

Policy Aims and Scope

The aims of this policy are to prevent accidents and work-related ill health, to manage risks arising from our cleaning activities and to promote a positive health and safety culture throughout our business. The policy applies to all employees of Maida Vale Cleaners, as well as to temporary workers, subcontractors and any other persons engaged to carry out cleaning services on our behalf.

We expect all individuals representing Maida Vale Cleaners to comply with this policy and any associated procedures, safe systems of work and site-specific rules issued by clients or building managers.

Management Responsibilities

Senior management has overall responsibility for health and safety performance within Maida Vale Cleaners. Employee Responsibilities

All employees have a duty to take reasonable care for their own health and safety and that of others who may be affected by their actions at work. Employees must not misuse or interfere with anything provided for health and safety purposes and must cooperate fully with Maida Vale Cleaners in the implementation of this policy.

Risk Assessment and Safe Working Practices

Maida Vale Cleaners will carry out suitable and proportionate risk assessments for our cleaning activities. These assessments will identify hazards, evaluate risks and set out control measures to reduce risks to an acceptable level. Typical considerations include slips and trips, manual handling, working at height for high-level dusting, electrical safety and exposure to hazardous substances.

Where appropriate, written method statements and safe systems of work will be developed and communicated to staff. These will be monitored and reviewed in light of operational experience and any incidents reported.

Chemical Safety and COSHH

Working on Client Premises

When working on client premises, Maida Vale Cleaners will cooperate with building management and follow any site rules or safety procedures provided. We will pay particular attention to the prevention of slips and trips, using warning signs when floors are wet and ensuring that equipment, leads and materials do not create avoidable hazards.

Where access is required to shared areas such as stairwells, corridors and lobbies, work will be planned and carried out in a way that maintains safe access and egress for occupants and visitors.

Training, Information and Supervision

All employees will receive appropriate health and safety induction and job-specific training before carrying out tasks unsupervised. Training will cover key topics such as safe use of chemicals, manual handling, use of equipment, incident reporting and emergency procedures.

Refresher training will be provided as necessary and when new equipment, products or methods are introduced. Supervisors will monitor working practices to ensure that training is understood and followed.

Incident Reporting and Emergency Procedures

All accidents, injuries, near misses and hazardous occurrences must be reported to Maida Vale Cleaners management as soon as possible. Incidents will be recorded, investigated and used to identify lessons learned and improve our safety measures.

Employees will be instructed on what to do in the event of fire, chemical spills, injury or other emergencies while working on client premises. This will include awareness of escape routes, alarms and assembly points, in line with information provided by the client or building management.
